Tyler Lepore, owner of Super Champion
Vancouver is a rainy city, and the corner of Main and Hastings attracts a pile of people waiting to buy more of, or come down off of, some dirty heroin. The sliver of downtown is given over to the junkies, and the alleyways contain them in various states of disrepair: lying down and nodding off, sitting up but nodding off, in the very act of injecting it into the fingertip but just about to nod off, and even a few standing/wobbling and nodding off. Crossing Hastings and continuing towards the water, the litter lessens and the sky emerges.

This is too good not to repost. I saw these two videos on Tracko. Actually, back in 2006 we spent Thanksgiving week in Amsterdam. We took our bikes with us. When we got there, buildup the bike and went straight out and after half a day of riding, my Campy front wheel stopped spinning. I took it off and found that the lock nut just crack in half so when I tried to tighten the lock nut, it would lock up the hub. Of course, I didn”t have an extra Campy nut in my pocket, so we needed to find a bike shop that would have them. Heard about RIH from Lily because Lily bought a RIH track bike from Gareth Chow.

In my opinion, the Suntour Superbe Pro track hub was one of, if not the best track hub ever created- this goes for most modern hubs as well. It was a solid, well made, smooth spining hub that has yet to be rivaled.

Chris- a friend of mine, not willing to delve into the dark depths of tubular wheels recently asked me to remove the hubs (coincidentally) from my favorite tubular, Super Champion’s Arc en Ciel. Being a well versed cyclist, Chris wanted the hubs properly detensioned from the rims so as not to shock them and ruin them from another build.

Le Cyclisme Sur Piste- Vitesse
I recently picked up this little pamphlet on track racing in France. And with the TDF just around the corner, it seems like it was a good time to post it up.
The title roughly translates to ‘Track Cycling – Speed’ and it was authored by 4 time [cough] world track champion Lucien Michard.

1981 Bianchi Super Pista
New bike day. This time it’s a 1981 Bianchi Super Pista. According to the production decal it was built in January, my birthday month, but it’s a few years my junior. When I picked it up it had a full Superbe Pro Gruppo on it, an excellent group no doubt, but it needed to get back to it’s Italian roots. So off with the SSP and enter the Campy Record Pista gruppo.
