  • This is too good not to repost. I saw these two videos on Tracko. Actually, back in 2006 we spent Thanksgiving week in Amsterdam. We took our bikes with us. When we got there, buildup the bike and went straight out and after half a day of riding, my Campy front wheel stopped spinning. I took it off and found that the lock nut just crack in half so when I tried to tighten the lock nut, it would lock up the hub. Of course, I didn”t have an extra Campy nut in my pocket, so we needed to find a bike shop that would have them. Heard about RIH from Lily because Lily bought a RIH track bike from Gareth Chow.

It's about to come to blows...

This week I decided to pull out the old CycleZine time travelling recumbent device and head back to 1982. And of all the things I could think to bring back with me, Lawn Chair Larry, A more resilient Cal Ripken Jr, an NIB Commodore 64- I choose an issue of Bicycling. To be specific, one from July of 1982. Which I have decided to share with you all.

  • 1981 Bianchi Super Pista

    1981 Bianchi Super Pista

New bike day. This time it’s a 1981 Bianchi Super Pista. According to the production decal it was built in January, my birthday month, but it’s a few years my junior. When I picked it up it had a full Superbe Pro Gruppo on it, an excellent group no doubt, but it needed to get back to it’s Italian roots. So off with the SSP and enter the Campy Record Pista gruppo.

There I said it. But c’mon, just tell me you weren’t thinking the same thing. Yeah, that’s right, I thought so.

Damn your little details, your ability to strive and and subsequently archive perfection, yes, Damn all of those things.

In fact. Damn your Colnagos. All of them, especially the 1972 beauty that is currently on ebay. Yes, Damn that one especially.

  • Happy Friday! And welcome to our first installment of our very own advice column- Ask CycleZine. It’s how we will teach you things in the guise of dumb questions with really witty retorts. So without further ado:

    Dear Cyclzine

I often find myself in situations where I wish to compliment female cyclists on their beautiful Campagnolo Nuovo and Super Record components. But as I begin to, I find myself fumbling for the right words.

For example, last week I approached a woman on a very nice vintage Cinelli SuperCorsa. I said, “Wow, that is a really pristine set of 60’s Super Record Cranks you got there”. She looked at me in disgust, as though I were little more than a sadly converted Colnago “fixie”,  and walked away. Turns out they were from 1984.

    Please help.
