The Bread & Butter Tradeshow for Selected Brands, an urban fashion week of sorts, is heading back to its hometown for this year’s events. Cyclezine friend and darling, Lily poses for the IAM1 Journey flier that will exhibit the history of the AF-1. If by some chance you’re ‘in the neighborhood’ (halfway around the world), drop by and say ‘Hallo’ <-german joke.
Zo made it out to Mike’s Breakers to Bay race this Sunday on his curvy ST Jack Taylor low profile Time Trial bike (whew, mouthful). This is an odd, but interesting frame. A bit ironic as well. Like and old man dressed like “Bad” era Michael Jackson. It’s weird for me to see the hand painted Taylor logo, box lining and all the classic British elements on the 80′s craze known as LoPro. Don’t get me wrong, I would own it in a second because it’s pretty damn unique. Thus worth sharing.
Entering through the doorway from the street is like walking into a doubly-sweet candy store: skateboards on the left side, and bike-stuff on the right. Pushbike shop has finally opened right on 24th Street, sharing floorspace with Mission Skateboards.
Sarah Murder hollered at us with a nice oldschool postcard to let us know that she has just opened up a store on 24th Street. Sarah is solid; I’ve see her messengering around SF for years, not to mention an endless string of first place finishes at every big race. I am sure a lot of you know or have heard of her. Looks like it will be a very fun and cool spot, I will post more detailed info after I visit the shop later on this week.
If there is one thing I could say about MASH, it’s that they like to do things right. I’ve been witness to the rounds of product development they have gone through on goods they put their name on, and it’s no easy task. The new MASH Sag Life Bag is no exception.
I saw the last prototype and there was a pocket for just about everything, super roomy and super comfy. I can’t wait to get my hands on a finished sample. And while the price is a bit steep, SAG makes a quality bag that will last forever, so it’s well worth the purchase price. Roll over to the MASH store and check it out.
Voila! So I finally had a chance to finish uploading all the photos that I took at the SF Tweed Ride on April 30th. The ride was very fun and there was a positive mood in the air among the tweed-outfitted bike riders. Despite the muggy, grey, thursday weather, the wool sure kept the riders warm – there’s a reason cyclists have been covering their limbs and bodies in the material since bikes first had wheels. I must admit, it’s not the tweed that brought me out, but the willingness of people to gather and share in the joy of similar interests while looking very proper.
I admit that recently I’ve been working a lot and so I haven’t really had much time for bike-related goodness all together. My life is very work-eat-sleep, work-eat-sleep. I really like to build bikes, so recently I’ve been working on my latest project – an Ebisu 700c all-purpose.
If you don’t know what Ebisus are, head over to Jitensha Studio to have a look-see at what types of bike components and frames they deal. Hiroshi Imura is the owner and mastermind behind the shop. He designs the shop brand frame “Ebisu”, but they can also get their hands on custom Toei frames and Shula (a little more high end than Ebisu). Honjo fenders, LED flashlights, Crane bells, custom stems, randonneuring bags and wool knickers are just a few items in the grand selection you may find at Jitensha.
Zak at CopenhagenCycleChic discussed briefly about “Marketing the Bicycle to the Sub-Conscious Environmentalist”. What do people think about this issue? Do you think it’s a two way win-win progression here? More bike, less pollution… I am gonna leave the rest up to you to decide…. Here’s a snap of me and my Dutch townie. Photo by Brian Raymond….
I like this VDO and I’m not sure why.. maybe when the girl was checking the biker out? It comes from the Japanese clothing company, Bedwin. I like how the bicycle has become a pitch for many fashion companies. I actually think it is good thing; I want too see more involment between bicycles and fashion because it’s always lovely to see cute people riding bikes. Definitely an expression of freedom and sustainability. Happy Friday, San Francisco… -Cyclezine-
Last weekend while I was hanging out in the park. I ended up scored this Cinelli priest bar, Cinelli stem, with toshi black leather handlebar wrap combo from a friend for $70. He had it for a month and paid $70, voila.. puck happy, friend was happy.. I must say, this set up is a really fun and fast around town bike. I get to sit up a bit taller help me make all those cute eyes contacts. Also a small size basket from Box Dog bike give just enough room for camera bag. Travis Freight bag beer holster definitely add the swift feel of party on the go. Fun set up indeed… watch out now.. don’t block my way..
